Foreign correspondent in Colombia. I write about nature, culture and politics
Casa Palopó, Guatemala, 2025
What drives someone to create? Why are people drawn to culture? What does creativity reveal about individuals and national identity? These are the questions I ask myself during my reporting, which often focuses on culture in the broadest sense. I’m fascinated by the natural world, an approach that informs my travel writing.
I report on Latin America for The Economist and The Observer, with work published in National Geographic Traveller, BBC Travel, Wanderlust magazine, Lonely Planet, Intrepid Travel, the i newspaper,Tempus and Condé Nast. I am the lead author of DK Travel’s new guidebook to Colombia, published late 2026.
Prior to moving to Colombia, I was the assistant culture editor at The Economist in London, where I began my career as an intern on the social-media team. Since then, I have written about politics, music, art, architecture, film, food, forests, indigenous rights and podcasts, as well as devised data-driven strategies so that a young, global audience consumes world-class reporting.
India, Thailand and Montpellier are places I’ve called home, and I have also worked for The Connexion, a newspaper in France, the Sunday Times Style, Suitcase and Plinth, an art platform. I do freelance editing, copywriting and ghostwriting for lifestyle brands, tech and cities.
