Journalist in Colombia. I write about nature, culture and politics

What drives someone to create? Why are people drawn to culture? What does creativity reveal about individuals and national identity? These are the questions I ask myself during my reporting, which often focuses on culture in the broadest sense. I’m fascinated by the natural world, an approach that informs my travel writing.

I write for The Economist from Colombia, in addition to having work published in The Observer, National Geographic Traveller, BBC Travel, Wanderlust magazine, Lonely Planet, the i newspaper, Tempus and Condé Nast Johansens.

Formerly the assistant culture editor at The Economist, I have written about politics, music, art, architecture, film, food and podcasts. As a social-media editor prior to that, I created social-media journalism and devised data-driven audience strategies for the newspaper’s young, global, curious audience.

I have also worked for The Connexion, a newspaper in France, the Sunday Times Style, Suitcase and Plinth, an art platform. I do freelance editing, copywriting and communications assignments.
