Journalist in Colombia. I write about nature, culture and politics
What drives someone to create? Why are people drawn to culture? What does creativity reveal about individuals and national identity? These are the questions I ask myself during my reporting, which often focuses on culture in the broadest sense. I’m fascinated by the natural world, an approach that informs my travel writing.
Formerly the assistant culture editor at The Economist, I have written about politics, music, art, architecture, film, food and podcasts. As a social-media editor prior to that, I created social-media journalism and devised data-driven audience strategies for the newspaper’s young, global, curious audience.
I write for The Economist from Colombia, in addition to having work published in National Geographic Traveller, BBC Travel, Lonely Planet, the i newspaper, Tempus and Condé Nast Johansens. I have also worked for The Connexion, a newspaper in France, the Sunday Times Style, Suitcase and Plinth, an art platform. I also do freelance copywriting and communications.
